Questions about transport vocabulary

What transport words should children learn first?
Start with the vehicles children see every day: car, bus, train, bike and airplane. Then add boat, taxi and truck. Words like ferry and tram depend on where you live, so teach them when the child meets the real thing.
How do I use transport words with take, ride and drive?
English pairs each vehicle with its own verb: you take the bus or the train, you ride a bike, and you drive a car. Practice with real plans, as in we take the bus to school. The verb is half the phrase, so learn them as pairs.
Is subway the same as underground or metro?
All three mean the city train that runs under the streets. Subway is the American word, underground and tube belong to London, and metro is common across Europe and Asia. Pick the word for the city you will visit and use it with confidence.
